Social Democrats support a Stardust Commission of Investigation

January 25, 2017

“The tragedy of the Stardust fire continues to live on for the families who lost their sons and daughters and brothers and sisters. It also lives on for all those who remember the fire and the awful loss of life and terrible injuries” said northside Dublin Councillor Cian O’Callaghan of the Social Democrats.

“The families and their investigative team believe that they have significant new information on how the fire started. The only way this information can be heard fairly and in trusted and thorough manner is through a Commission of Inquiry” continued O’Callaghan.

“The very least we can do for the families is to establish the truth of what happened that night. The families and all those who died or were injured deserve a proper Inquiry to fully investigate the fire and what caused it” said Roísín Shortall TD, Social Democrats co-leader and local TD

“This has gone on for long enough. The Social Democrats will be supporting the motion to establish a Commission of Investigation on the Stardust tragedy being brought by Tommy Broughan TD in the Dáil” concluded Shortall.
