I’m Hilary Tonge, the Social Democrats General Election candidate for Clare.
I live in Ennis, and I’m so excited to be the Social Democrats candidate in the upcoming general election. I work for Women’s Collective Ireland, Clare, and I am the founder of Mná ag Gáire Women’s Hub.. I am also a co-founder of the Mid-West Hospital Campaign, fighting for better healthcare for all and the re-establishment of an emergency department in Ennis.
Too many people are being left behind by threadbare public services and a lack of investment in affordable housing. I particularly want to see action on the UHL crisis, where 500,000 are reliant on a single overburdened emergency department.
We urgently need a change in approach, and as your representatives who will work day and night to deliver for a fair and inclusive County Clare.
I believe the Social Democrats have the policies, people, and passion to make a positive and lasting impact on our county.
I joined the Social Democrats to work for a society that is equitable and fair. We all must reject the division being sown by those who scapegoat migrants for the failure of government. Ireland is not full; it’s just not working properly. In a growing diverse population such as ours, we must work to facilitate greater interaction within our county.
