I’m Sinéad Gibney, the Social Democrats TD for Dublin Rathdown.
I became a politician because I believe we should all have a roof over our heads, be looked after when we’re sick, and receive support when we need it, regardless of means, and I don’t think those things will be delivered with our current government.
Before politics, I was the Chief Commissioner, and previously the inaugural Director, of the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission. I also founded and led the corporate social responsibility function for Google Ireland.
I raised my daughter as a lone parent, and I’m now married to my wonderful partner, Mark. I’m using all that experience to represent the people of Dublin Rathdown in Leinster House.
As a TD I want to champion peace and diplomacy, a fair deal for workers, and public spending and services that are accountable and deliver for the people of Ireland.
