The Wicklow Branch of the Social Democrats have formally selected Bray resident Aaron McAllorum to contest the 2024 Local Elections in the Bray East Electoral Area.
Aaron is parliamentary assistant to the former co-leader of the Social Democrats, Catherine Murphy TD, and has been working with the party and Wicklow TD Jennifer Whitmore since its early stages.
Aaron’s candidacy brings almost 20 years of experience on the civil and political side of public service. Originally from Blanchardstown, he has made his home in Bray and is raising a young family in the town.
Speaking after the selection convention, Aaron said:
“I am honoured to be given the opportunity to represent the Social Democrats as a candidate for the next local elections. The party are very progressive when it comes to their policies on housing provision, public services, healthcare and transport.
“The fundamental ethos of the Social Democrats can take our country to a fairer and more sustainable place to live and prosper instead of people just getting by.
“I am proud to live in Bray and I look forward to engaging further with the community in order to bring badly needed political change and fresh perspectives to our town.”
Reacting to Aaron’s selection, Deputy Jennifer Whitmore said:
“I am very proud to see Aaron selected to run in Bray East for the Social Democrats. We have worked together on local issues in Bray for years and I know that Aaron will be a wonderful representative for the area.
“Having lived here for years and being active in the community, he knows what people in the town are concerned about.
“His commitment to making positive local change in Bray and his proactive nature will prove to be indispensable if he is elected as a councillor. I wish him every success with his campaign in the months ahead.”
