I’m Ross O’Mullane, the Social Democrats General Election candidate for Dublin South-West.
I am passionate about making our corner of Dublin a thriving place to live, with affordable housing, efficient public transport, and shared green spaces where communities can flourish. I want to help create a society where everyone gets a fair go, on a planet where we all live sustainably.
Born and bred in Rathfarnham, I rented in Bushy Park House for years and was fortunate to buy a house in Perrystown in 2018. I know the constituency like the back of my hand—I understand where people are coming from and “get” the issues of the area.
Professionally, I’ve worked in digital marketing for some of Ireland’s best-known brands over the past 25 years. I want to bring this real-world experience into Irish politics. In 2009, I ran in a by-election in the area and have been involved in numerous campaigns and democracy groups since then. My wife Emma is a pharmacist in Perrystown, and our kids attend local schools.
Like many of you, our weekends are packed with family activities—GAA, swimming, walks in Tymon or Bushy Park, treks up the Dublin Mountains, beavers and scouts—or sometimes doing street clean-ups with the local Residents Association, which I helped set up last year.
I firmly believe we can make Dublin South-West as good as any suburb anywhere, but it will require a fresh way of doing things and challenging constrained thinking.
Let’s build this future together.
