Meet Tim

I’m Tim Clifford, the Social Democrats Local Election Candidate for Kenmare.

I returned to my roots in County Kerry in 2000 to bring up my family in Killorglin. My career spans across media print production and design sectors, contributing to major national and our very own local publications.

As well as my work-life in Kerry I have been involved with community organisations and since 2013, I’ve poured my heart into K-FEST, a cornerstone of Kerry and Ireland’s arts and cultural scene.

I am passionate about being a voice for those from all over the Iveragh and Beara peninsulas, and I am committed to engaging with residents, businesses and organisations across the district to discuss local issues, hear your ideas and so you can get to know me better.

I am entering politics driven by my commitment to creating a better future for my children, friends and neighbours. My vision is to help Kerry become a place where individuals can live and work in dignity and where businesses can flourish. Kerry possesses the talent and skills; we just need to exercise the political will.

Tim’s Priorities

  • Housing is of the utmost urgency. There is a housing crisis and it needs to be treated as a crisis.
  • Public transport, both during the day for those in rural areas and for night-time economy.
  • Connecting communities to cater for the youth, the elderly, LGBTQ+ and new arrivals. Everyone deserves dignity.
  • Volunteer Groups are the lifeblood of communities. There needs to be a fresh approach in assisting those that do so much for so little.
  • Small businesses, especially those starting-up, need to be given a chance to flourish with a rates holiday period.
